GDA's Fundamentals Intensives have been customized from existing (pilot) curriculum for various pathways into a geo drilling career. Companies, of course, need to train their own teams, but our “pre-apprentice” intensives serve as a kind of tee-ball before baseball—designed to accelerate a person’s entry into the profession or prepare them specifically for a project site. Our three current offerings:
Field Technician - 80-hour basic training (classroom + field)
Workers newly engaging in field work or onboarding for a project
Assistant - 40-80-hour training (classroom + field)
Previously working professionals starting in construction as a long-term career
Lead - 40-hour advanced training (classroom + field)
Experienced or displaced fieldworkers expanding their skillset into geothermal drilling (e.g. construction workers, union workers, well or other drillers)
Site Management - an introduction to local and state requirements, permitting, waste generation, disposal, and site restoration to complete a project.
Advanced Drilling Techniques & Methods - a course on the latest drilling techniques, methods, and opportunities to diversify your drilling program.
Drilling Program Management - outlining the development a project-specific drilling program and how to utilize the program throughout the lifecycle of the project.
Professional Presence Training - a class on how geothermal drilling professionals interact with a variety of individuals on a project, from the client to the engineer, regulator, or community. This class will discuss best practices, lessons learned, and strategies for promoting the industry to achieve widespread acceptance of geothermal drilling.
Site-Specific Safety - a wide variety of safety-specific courses on trenching, heights, confined spaces, rigging, and emergency action plans to prepare field personnel to consider safety at all aspects of a project.
We are working to populate the GDA Library with resources such as templates for Standard Operating Procedures, a simple RFP, and a table of state-by-state licensing requirements. Links and White Papers that already exist will be available soon!
